Jovanka Stanojević is a Serbian visual artist renowned for her monumental hyperrealistic portraits that explore themes of aging, vulnerability, and human dignity. Born and based in Belgrade, she holds both BA and MFA degrees from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade and completed advanced training at the International School of Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture in Italy.
Her work has been widely exhibited across Europe and the United Kingdom, including prestigious venues such as NordArt in Germany, the London Art Biennale, and numerous cultural institutions in Serbia and abroad. Stanojević has received several notable awards, among them the Derwent Art Prize (Second Prize, 2018) and the NordArt Public Choice Awards in 2013 and 2014. She currently teaches at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
Stanojević’s portraits—most often depicting elderly subjects—are executed with exceptional precision in acrylic, charcoal, and pastel. Fine details such as wrinkles, stray hairs, and textured skin are not merely rendered with technical accuracy but transformed into powerful emotional narratives.
